Sa speech nito noong ika-60th anniversary party ng GMA, ipinahayag nito ang paghanga sa mga tv programs ng kapuso.
Ito ang naging pahayag ng pangulo. “I remember watching ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea’ on this channel. That program sparked in me an abiding interest in the sciences. The untouchables impressed upon my impressionable mind the long arm of the law and the certainty of judgment. This ideal is, of course, something we’re trying to turn into reality. Working under the yoke of a dictatorship, GMA 7 kept the flickering light of truth alive. GMA 7 touched my life in a very personal way."
